Why you should see this show…

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Royal Wood has established himself as a true musical talent. Since being proclaimed “Songwriter of the Year” by iTunes, Wood has continued to evolve and hone his musical craft – maintaining an unmistakable identity while uncovering and reinventing his sound. The Juno Award-nominated artist is inspired by both loss and love; the songs on his latest record are an ode to the classic styles of Tin Pan Alley and Laurel Canyon. Royal recently completed two wildly successful and sold out tours opening for legendary artists Bonnie Raitt and David Gray.

Royal Wood Bio
Life has a way of knocking on our door on the days we least expect it. For singer songwriter Royal Wood, life knocked pretty damn hard. For in the same year that he lost his father to illness, he also fell in love and got married.

“I read once that you can’t get wet from the word water. That it isn’t the word that allows for the knowing to take place, but rather the experience itself that removes the veil. Life showed me first hand that I had never felt true grief before, nor did I understand love either until now. It’s been a year of true paradigm shifts.”

As an artist, Royal channeled these polar opposite emotions into his new album Ever After The Farewell. Recorded in London, UK, with Jamie Scott (known for his work with renowned artists like Rag’n Bone Man, Michael Kiwanuka, Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran), Royal’s album is not only deeply inspired by both loss and love, but is an ode to the classic styles of both Tin Pan Alley and Laurel Canyon.

ABOUT THIS LIVE BROADCAST SERIES

Continuing Cleveland’s rich tradition of rock n’ roll and radio, the Music Box Supper Club, in partnership with oWOW radio, are excited to introduce their new summer-long, Happy Hour Concerts on Wednesdays starting on June 5. The concert series is designed to be reminiscent of the beloved Coffee Break Concerts of the old WMMS in its heyday. It will consist of up and coming artists — both national touring bands, and the best local bands — performing at the Music Box, and broadcast live by oWOW Radio. In keeping with the Coffee Break tradition, these Happy Hour concerts will feature the artists’ latest album release tracks and popular hits in an hour-long commercial free performance.
