Why you should see this show…

Music Box is proud to kick off the new Fresh Finds Concert Series on Thursday, July 18 with Holly & Mr. Carnivore, two fabulous new bands that we think you should know about. Holly is a soul/blues band from Chicago with influences from Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Leon Bridges, Dianna Ross, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more.

Opening up for Holly is Mr. Carnivore, a fresh four-piece indie rock band from Cleveland. Mr. Carnivore will be celebrating the release of a music video for their song “Paradise” from their debut album Blue Light.

Holly Bio
Formed in Spring 2017, Holly is a soul/blues band with influences from Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Leon Bridges, Dianna Ross etc. They’ve been headlining and selling out major venues, and performing as openerss for several major touring artists. They laso just wrapped up recording their debut album.

Mr. Carnivore Bio
Mr. Carnivore is a four piece indie rock band based in Cleveland Ohio. The group’s founders and brothers Pat LaGuardia (lead vocalist and guitar) and Joe LaGuardia (bass), have been playing music together since a young age. Pat has written hundreds of songs over the years as a solo artist and Joe has been in several bands and has played with many artists over the same period. In the process of helping put on a local open mic they realized playing together was pretty natural and pretty powerful. Pat’s songs, inspired by such artists as The Avett Brothers, Bon Iver, and The Milk Carton Kids, were well received at the open mic. Joe, influenced by active artists such as The Foo Fighters and Beck, immediately realized that it was necessary to record the songs with a full band and release them on a full scale.

Mr. Carnivore released their first single, “Knees” at the beginning of 2018 along with an unofficial music video for the unreleased version of the song, “Hot Air Balloon.” Later in the year, the band released their debut album, Blue Light. The album was self-recorded by the group with the help of former members Kevin Hannah and Mike Pappas. “Self-recording is a double edged sword,” says Joe, “It allows you the luxury of time and attention to detail. But at the same time, you’ve got no one to blame but yourself if it sucks.” Mr. Carnivore’s debut single, “Knees”, was well received by press and media outlets and is being played by more than 15 independent radio stations around the world. Michelle Waters of Hold The Note Magazine writes, “While Mr. Carnivore may be a relatively new band, they are already catching the attention of many music lovers across the state and the region.”

Fresh Finds Concert Series:

The goal of this new monthly concert series is to shine the spotlight on rising talent that we think you should know about. The bands featured during this series are all at different stages in their musical journey- some are just getting started with the local buzz while others are multiple albums deep. However they’re approaching making music, from indie rock to r&b, folk, blues, or punk, each of these bands should be on your radar in 2019.
