Story topic this week…

Cleveland Takes on the World and is Winning – Cleveland is no longer just a city, but a brand. From winning national championships to hosting historical events, the city takes large scale events in its stride and isn’t looking to slow down any time soon. Join President & CEO of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, David Gilbert, for stories on how Cleveland has scored such prestigious events like the Republican National Convention, what events are on the way, and how Cleveland compares to some of the biggest cities in the world. Cleveland is going places.

David Gilbert Bio

David Gilbert serves as president & CEO of Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, an organization dedicated to make Greater Cleveland the nation’s foremost destination for amateur sporting events and activities, and Destination Cleveland, the region’s convention and visitors’ bureau. He re-established the Sports Commission in 2000 and assumed his role with Destination Cleveland in 2011. From April 2015 through December 2016, Gilbert also served as the president and CEO of the Cleveland 2016 Host Committee for the Republican National Convention. Gilbert has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Cleveland State University. He also holds an honorary doctorate degree from Baldwin Wallace University.
The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
