Keeping the Music of Rory Gallagher Alive

Why you should see this show…

Rory Gallagher’s music reached a massive audience from Norway to Spain, from Japan to the USA, covering all parts of the globe and producing some of the greatest rock/blues albums of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Sadly we lost Rory on June 14th 1995. To his devoted fans and followers this was the ultimate tragedy.

The BAND OF FRIENDS is not a tribute to Rory, but more a celebration of his life and music. The band consists of musicians who played with Rory as his rhythm section for years and is fronted by the incomparable Davy Knowles!

Band of Friends Bio
Band of Friends featuring Gerry McAvoy, Davy Knowles, Ted McKenna completed 2 very successful USA tours in 2018. Sadly after losing Ted McKenna in January 2019, the band has been joined by Brendan O’Neill on drums ( Rory Gallagher 1981-1991)

They toured the US in March of this year, and will return for another US tour November/ December 19.
For Rory’s 25th Anniversary Davy will be joining Band of Friends for selected European dates.
“My favourite modern bluesman” – Joe Satriani

“Davy Knowles has immersed himself in the styles of many great players, emerging with his own brand, and playing with a smile on his face” – Bernie Marsden

“Davy Knowles plays the blues with the sincerity of someone twice his age” – Daniel Eriksson

Gerry McAvoy played with Rory Gallagher for 20 years from 1971 – 1991. Because of this he has a great insight into the man and his music. Gerry played on every album Rory made, and wrote a book about his experiences on the road, including his time with Rory. The book is titled Riding Shotgun.

Brendan O”Neill played with Rory from 1981 – 1991, playing on Jinx, Defender, and Fresh Evidence.
